2007 Tommy's Run for Fun

  2007 Run for Fun

Thankfully, the weather held out for us and it was a beautiful, sunny, warm day for the show at Duke Island Park.  I am pleased to report that we actually made money this year.  We have since established a $500 opportunity grant in Tommy's name with FAFS for the Aging Out program for young adults.  This grant will be specific to foster children in Union and Somerset Counties.  We also have made a $525 donation to Fostering Wishes for Children.  This donation will be split into five mini-grants of $75 to help incur the costs of the children's extra-curricular activities.

On that note, we want to thank all of our show and 5k run participants who showed up for the day.  We want to especially thank our wonderful volunteers because not only do they do a great job, but without them, we could not put this show on.  The spirit of banding together for a good cause was very evident that day from Sue, Kathy, Barbara, Carol & Joei at Registration to Paul, Edna, Joe, Debbie, Anthony, Laura, Paul, Melanie and all the volunteers who manned the food tent and kept everyone fed.  Dave, Pattie, Marty and Diane did a great job of keeping the raffles all straight and getting those door prizes out to participants and Melissa, Tiffany and Dawnmichele helped the kids have a good time with games.  We also want to especially thank the entertainers who donated their time and made a wonderful time for the kids as well - Tweedles the Clown and her awesome balloon art, Miss Kathy from Music to My Ears, LuLu LaughALot for sending the special lady who did all the beautiful face painting, D.J. Joe Leone who kept everyone on their toes and enjoying the oldies, and lastly the very talented members of Punch Drunk who entertained us with their music all afternoon.  We would also like to thank the Somerset County Parks Commission and the rangers at Duke Island Park for keeping everyone situated and where they were supposed to be.

And finally, we want to thank all the local corporate sponsors for the event.  They are as follows:  Lexus of Bridgewater, Wegmans of Bridgewater, 6th Avenue Electronics, Acqua Ristorante, Bridgewater Manor, NA's Pizza, Bed, Bath & Beyond, Flemington Department Store, Best's Provisions, Ahart's Market, Robert's American Gourmet, Herr's Chips, Snyders of Hanover, Pathmark, ShopRite of Chester, King's Market of Whitehouse, Orts Farms of Long Valley, Long Valley Auto Body, Iona Hill Farms, Melick's Farms of Tewksbury, Donaldson's Farms of Hackettstown, Taylor Rental Supply of Washington.  And our sincere thanks to all the street rodding manunfacturers who supported this year's event!

We are now planning our 2008 fundraiser.  This year, we are anticipating having an oldies dinner dance and silent auction.  Please check the website for updates as we hope to have a date and information available soon.

Thanks to everyone who has helped us carry out the Foundation's mission and to keep Tommy's memory alive!
